Wow!
We recently received a MA Cultural Council grant of $22k, that when matched by funds to be raised by HA, will pay for a study of the potential use of the DCR's empty police station (across the street from the Carousel) as a regional Center for the Arts. This will take us another step closer to our dream of having a "home" and provide more arts & culture to our community.

Hopefully this works out for the artists. Shame building has been just sitting there. I have heard there is asbestos in the building. Hopefully not. Good luck!

Wow, great! Do you mean 44k for a study for potential use, or am I misunderstanding? Great spot though.

I love that building! Can’t wait to see your plans!

I am so happy to see this building cared for, decades ago, before the hotel we wanted it to be a guest house. Spend the weekend in a cell... it was a good idea. This one is better

I hope it comes to pass. Love the building, perfect place to house Hull Artists.

Fundraising for the matching $$$

The carousel is a piece of art. Can we help them?

CONGRATS!! That is the *perfect* spot for an Arts Center!

How wonderful congrats!

Finally the dream comes true

Wonderful news.

Fantastic news!!!!!

SO, when is the first meeting? Lets get on it! Best, kr

It would be nice to see you get a home and for the building to get use ...

This is amazing!

Great!

Way to make it happen. So exciting.

Thats a nice building

Too much asbestos in the building

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

That's a,state building

Yay! We're VERY excited about this! You'll be hearing a lot more about needing your help to reach our matching grant goal. The funds are NOT available yet and can be used only for the proposed feasibility study.

We're another step closer to achieving our dream of The Nantasket Center for the Arts in the abandoned DCR Police Station across the street from the Carousel.

Our recent fundraiser to Help Keep Hull Artists Afloat during the pandemic was very successful thanks to widespread support from our members and our great community. We greatly appreciate everyone's support whether you were able to donate or not.Earlier this month, three South Shore organizations were awarded grant funding through the Cultural Facilities Fund. The state program provides capital and planning grants to nonprofits, colleges, and municipalities that own or operate facilities primarily focused on the arts, humanities, and sciences. The awards are as follows:

• Friends of the Paragon Carousel — $120,000 for a capital grant for the restoration of the historic Clock Tower Building.
• Hull Artists Studio Connection — $22,000 for a feasibility study for the conversion of a vacant DCR-owned building into a regional arts center for classroom, meeting spaces, gallery, and workspaces.
• Alden Kindred of America in Duxbury — $30,000 for a feasibility study to construct the Alden Center for Living History, including a topographic survey, and structural, septic, wetlands, zoning, and storm water management plans.

These investments will bring much needed cash-flow to our local economies and have the potential to be another draw to Main Street Businesses.
