As early as I can remember, I have been fascinated by nature. Whether walking in the woods, admiring the beauty of towering Pine trees, or simply hearing gentle waves crashing against a rocky shoreline, I am in awe.
My father, an avid nature lover, and my mother, a beach worshiper, passed these appreciations along to me. Growing up on Long Island, New York, many of my summer days consisted of boating on Long Island Sound, swimming at the beach, and playing in tidal pools. Family vacations included camping, fishing, and hiking throughout New England and Maine.
At about age 10, I started showing great interest in the visual arts spending countless hours in my bedroom drawing. At about this time, my grandparents purchased painting lessons for me.
When I was a Junior in High School, my art teacher encouraged me to enter a New York State student art contest. I took her advice, created a piece for the competition, entered it, and won. This experience gave me the confidence to apply to a college art program and continue my journey as an artist.
I studied drawing, painting, and printmaking mentoring under Rick Mikkelson and Diane Fine, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree at SUNY Plattsburgh, New York 92’. After graduation, I moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where I settled into the local art scene, exhibiting, winning awards, and selling my artwork.
In 2004, I took a hiatus from showing following the birth of my twin sons.
Re-emerging in the Spring of 2019, exhibiting my Encaustic paintings, and works on paper.
