Lara Williams

Lara started taking art lessons at age ten paid for by her grandparents.  They saw her showing a deep interest and winning visual art awards at her grade school, Boyle Rd. Elementary in Port Jefferson Station, Long Island, New York.  High School brought more awards by entering the New York State Martin Luther King Jr. artist contest at the urging of her art teacher. She won 1st prize.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree at SUNY Plattsburgh, New York 92′ Lara moved to Massachusetts.   Here she settled into the local Boston art scene while working at Pearl Art & Crafts in Cambridge. Showings among others included a Solo show at Sunset cafe’ in Cambridge and a Juried Show Works on Paper at The Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield MA, Juried by Jerry Saltz, Senior Art Critic, New York Magazine, 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Criticism,  Awards around this time included “1st prize for Art” and “1st prize for Watercolor” for her work The Tower, at the 1996 Pembroke arts festival, Pembroke, MA.   Lara has sold many pieces to private collectors and art lovers all over New York and New England.   

In the Spring of 2019, Lara decided that it was the right time to return to showing her art publicly, now that her twin sons are older and more independent.  She began by entering two pieces into a longstanding Annual Arts Festival, at a local church and sold Birches one of the works she had on exhibit there.   

Her painting Harbor Island was featured on the cover page for the South Shore Art Center, Cohasset, MA,  facebook page: @SSArtCenter, and her painting Blustery is the cover art for the song Winter Gloves a single released by a South Shore, MA musician, singer-songwriter Lindsey Buck.   

Most recently her painting Forest in Bloom was accepted into The Blanche Ames National Juried Art Exhibition, 2019; juror Irena Roman.  This show runs from September 17th – October 5th, 2019 at The Ames Mansion Museum at Borderland State Park, North Easton, MA.

Lara finds her primary inspiration, nature, all around her at her current home by the ocean in Hull, Massachusetts and while vacationing at her family retreat in Maine.
