Martin Donnell

Originally from Indiana, Martin Donnell has lived in New England for almost 40 years. He graduated with a BFA from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His career was as an athletic footwear designer, mostly for Reebok, but also as a consultant for Puma, New Balance, Timberland and Stride-Rite.

He makes mosaic artworks using recycled aluminum beverage cans, recycling not only the physical can itself, but also all the corporate design work that went into the making of these graphic packages.

His piece “Rhode Island Red” won the first place Edward Mitchell Bannister Award in the 2021 Providence Art Club National Open Juried Exhibition.

He lives in Warren, Rhode Island and spends some of his summers in Hull.
