I grew up in the seaport town of Fairhaven, MA and it was my high school art teacher, Mrs. Mandell, who forged my career in art. At Mass Art I became intrigued with 3 dimensional design and thus became one of the first female students to graduate with a BFA in Industrial Design. My first job was with an architectural and engineering firm in Boston where I learned construction drafting. This knowledge led me into a working career of corporate interior space planning and project management. My husband, Bill & I have lived in Hull for some 35 years now.
It wasn’t until I retired several years ago that I went back to an old love of drawing, and so I signed up for drawings classes with Pat LeLiberte. She inspired me to start drawing with colored pencils. It has become my passion. I love the way my Prismacolor colored pencils blend together to create beautiful effects and allow for exacting details in my floral and animal drawings.
I now have a small business doing commissioned pet portrait drawings. The challenge for me in drawing animals is to capture all the finite details of their fur, their subtle coloration, and the spirit locked in their eyes. For commissioned work my rates are very reasonable. Just send me a favorite photo of your pet and I will create a lasting image. You will find my artwork currently here in Gallery Nantasket and at our other HA exhibit locations.
